Pam Pahl, ASMA

Pam was born and educated in England, but is a longtime resident and citizen of the U.S. Her speciality of vessels and waterfront scenes developed naturally from a strong boating background, starting with ownership of a sailboat in California, many cruises and charters throughout the U.S., Caribbean, Bahamas etc. plus a trans-Atlantic crossing.

Pam worked in the marine industry for over 20 years before "retiring" to North Florida and becoming a professional artist. In a short span of years she has accumulated dozens of awards, 2 poster awards, and achieved recognition of her peers by being granted signature status in the American Society of Marine Artists.

She and her husband are still actively involved in boating and annually, in October, are welcomed aboard the starting boat for The Great Schooner Race - Annapolis, Md. to Norfolk, Va. This is a tremendous source of material, as 60 or so schooners are racing past at close quarters. In June 2004 she sailed aboard the 294' U.S. Coast Guard Barque Eagle from Jacksonville to Charleston (as an official U.S. Coast Guard artist). Her method is to take dozens of photographs while out on the water (or at boat shows) and then produce the paintings back at home. Her paintings portray current vessels alive and afloat, she uses all her own materials, and her paintings are done with best quality paints and archival materials.

Pam is currently on the Board of Directors of St. Augustine Art Association, and chairs two fine art and craft festivals for them annually in St. Augustine.
